Branson Missouri is a family vacation destination nestled in the Ozark Mountains. Getting to Branson just a few years ago meant either driving there or flying in to St. Louis, Kansas City or little Rock and renting a car for the several hour ride to Branson. The Branson Regional Airport is one of the newest airports in the nation. The airport opened for business on May 11, 2009.
The airport is situated on over 900 acres of land in the Ozark foothills, about 10 miles south of Downtown Branson. As a new airport, things are always changing. Three airlines currently serve Branson. Air Tran Airways offers non-stop flights between Branson and the cities of Houston, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta and Orlando. They also offer more than 50 connecting flights through Atlanta. Frontier Airlines has non-stop flights to and from Milwaukee and Denver. Branson Air Express recently started offering flights to Dallas and Austin.
Parking at the airport is plentiful. Both short-term and long-term parking are readily available. If you need public transportation, there are many available options. A shuttle bus will take you or a group of people from the airport to all of the area hotels or you can hire a taxi if you prefer. Branson Yellow Cab, Checker Cab and City Cab serve the airport. Car rentals are also available at the Branson Regional Airport. Enterprise, National and Alamo have service based at the airport or you can take a shuttle bus to the off-site lots of Hertz, Budget or Avis.
While waiting for your flight you can enjoy some delicious barbecue and other southern comfort food at Famous Dave's or browse through the Bass Pro Shops General Store and pick up some souvenirs, gifts, newspapers and snacks.
